For Parents
If your child is struggling with addiction, it can be hard to know where to turn. Parenting through addiction is often counterintuitive. What feels supportive can sometimes enable unhealthy patterns, and what seems harsh may actually be an important step toward recovery.
Parents often feel like they’re in the dark during this process. That’s why I make a point of including parents in the journey. While I will always protect your child’s confidentiality, I also invite you to be actively involved. I encourage you to join family therapy sessions with your child, or work with me individually to strengthen boundaries and learn how to care for yourself.
When parents and children work together, the family unit begins to heal. When the family heals, the individual is much more likely to thrive.
Many young people aren’t immediately ready to talk. Even if your child is hesitant about getting started, you don’t have to wait. I’ll walk you through practical steps you can take to encourage them to seek help while also supporting your own well-being.
I look forward to talking with you.
